We are delighted to announce that the following speakers have been confirmed for the upcoming 2012 Scalpel Conference:
- Professor Simon Kay – Simon Kay is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Professor of Hand Surgery in Leeds. His career lead him to be President of two specialty association, and edior of a major journal, but has remained focused on the human aspects of what are very technical specialties. His main expertise lies in microsurgery and reconstruction, and he will be talking on the whole gamut of upper limb reconstruction culminating in his current interest in hand transplantation
- Ms Helen Fernandes - Helen Fernandes was appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon at the internationally renowned Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge in 2002, the first female surgeon to be appointed there. She specialises in both the treatment of adult and paediatric patients with brain and spinal problems.
- Mr Edward Kiely - has been based at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital since the mid-1980s, is considered one of the top surgeons in the world specialising in the separation of conjoined twins. He has also appeared on the BBC2 documentary “Great Ormond Streetâ€.
