Those students without any original work to submit this year (e.g. pre-clinical students) may still have the opportunity present by submitting a ‘critical discussion’ abstract addressing one of the suggested topics for 2011.
The critical discussion should take the form of a mini-essay and answer one of the following questions:
- Will advances in medical therapy extinguish the role of the surgeon in the future?
- Pennies or patients? What is the place of elective surgery in the cash-straped NHS?
- What is the single greatest advance in the surgical field?
